A tiny family studio

Hello, we are Tella Terra

We are a small family studio in France, not a publishing house. We started Tella Terra in 2026, around one very ordinary moment: a toddler pointing at something and waiting for you to name it.

Everything you find here is made by two people, with the family around them reading over our shoulder. The first sentence of a story, the pictures, the little questions, the coloring pages you print at home, the songs. It is slow work, and we like it that way.

Why we make these books

Toddlers do not pick up words by being read to in silence. They pick them up in the back and forth. You point, they point. You name it, they try the sound. You say it back.

So we went looking for books built for that conversation, with pictures true enough to life that a child can carry a word from the page to the real cat on the sofa. We did not find many, so we started making them.

Our books are made for ages 1 to 3, the years when that back and forth does the most work.

What goes into every book

• One little question on every page. Not a quiz. Something you can ask, and your child can answer by pointing.
• A repeating line to join in on. Gentle repetition lets a toddler anticipate the words, then say them, then finally "read" them to you.
• True-to-life pictures, never cartoons. The more a picture looks like the real thing, the more easily a very young child connects the two.
• The same friend on the first and last page. Tella opens every story and waves goodbye at the end.
• Your languages. English, French and Spanish, plus bilingual editions that hold two languages side by side on the page.

Being straight with you

• About the pictures. They are illustrations crafted to look true to life, made with AI image tools and finished by hand. They are not photographs taken with a camera, and we will never call them that.
• About what a book can do. Reading together supports language and connection. No book makes a child smarter, and you will not hear that from us. We keep our promises to what the research actually supports.
• About reading time. Our books are made to be shared with a grown-up close by. Every product carries a supervision and safety line, and we mean it.
• About the name on the cover. We write as Mira. It is a pen name that keeps a small family's privacy, and the person behind it is real and answers your emails.

The Pets is out now. The Garden is next. We would rather make each world properly than rush all seven at once.
